Cassie Warrington Bluffton NC Death, Obituary – Cassie Warrington and David Duffey died in Hilton Head Island murder-suicide suspect Dustin Linsley found dead

The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identities of two victims and a suspect who died following a late-night domestic shooting on Thursday.

Coroner Shane Bowers identified David Duffey, 62, of Hilton Head Island, and Catherine Warrington, 50, of Bluffton, as the victims of the incident, which occurred on Lark Street on Hilton Head Island. Deputies were dispatched to the residence around 11:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, both victims were found deceased outside the home.

Investigators reported that the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. License plate readers helped law enforcement locate the vehicle near Promenade Street in Bluffton, where it was determined the suspect had returned to his residence.

Law enforcement officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect for several hours. During this time, a 56-year-old woman who was in the home was able to leave safely and was unharmed. Eventually, deputies entered the residence and discovered the suspect deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office identified the suspect as Dustin Linsley, 52, of Bluffton. He was pronounced dead at approximately 4:40 a.m. inside his home.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward and contact Sgt. Cushman, the lead investigator, at 843-255-3722.

This tragic event has left the Bluffton and Hilton Head Island communities reeling, and officials emphasize the importance of safety and vigilance while the investigation continues. Both victims and the suspect are mourned by family, friends, and neighbors who were affected by this devastating incident.
